INTRODUCTION
Chenbro Micom is the world’s leading rackmount server and storage chassis manufacturer. The Taiwanese company has multiple manufacturing plants in Taiwan and China to serve both domestic and oversea needs. The company headquarters moved to Xinzhuang in 2020 and a new manufacturing plant in Chiayi is also expected in 2021.
THE CHALLENGE
Chenbro had several objectives with regards to its meeting rooms. As part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, Chenbro wanted to integrate solutions that would help conserve energy and be futureready. The solution also had to deliver a native Microsoft Teams® software experience that would be both user-friendly and consistent in every space. In addition, the brand-new headquarters featured captivating worksof-art and design but lacked state-of-the-art workplace technology needed to deliver effective and productive meetings.
THE SOLUTION
Chenbro partnered with Systems Integrator LANCom Networks to design and integrate digital workplace solutions from Crestron at the new headquarters.
THE TECHNOLOGY
With Microsoft Teams as the preferred collaboration platform, LANcom selected Crestron Flex video conferencing solutions to deliver an optimal, best-in-class meeting experience. Crestron Flex offers the convenience of a single platform for video conferencing, content sharing, scheduling, management, and support. The standardized meeting room experience with Crestron Flex and Microsoft Teams has streamlined collaboration for Chenbro employees and has made joining a meeting easier than ever. The Crestron AirMedia® wireless presentation system allows users to easily share their presentations from their mobile devices to the room’s display panel. “In addition to sharing presentations, AirMedia is also used as digital signage by sending through our corporate messages to the display panels within the office,” said Linda Chen, Associate Vice President, Global MIS Division, Chenbro Micom Co., Ltd. Installed outside the meeting rooms are Crestron Room Scheduling Panels integrated with Crestron Fusion® monitoring and scheduling software. Popular calendaring programs can be incorporated within the software to improve workflow and room usage. As company policy, the in-room technology will only operate if there is a scheduled room booking; with the room shutting down once the meeting concludes. This not only helps employees become more alert surrounding the meeting progress, it also enhances meeting productivity.
Forming the backbone of the AV infrastructure is a Crestron control system, which provides a robust, dynamic, and secure platform. The control system features a pronounced increase in processing power and speed, as well as rock-solid networking, IP control, and unique modular programming architecture. To further ensure reliability, LANcom provided a backup system so that the controls are never down. 49 Crestron DM NVX® encoders and decoders handle the content distribution throughout the office, easily transporting video over a standard Gigabit Ethernet with no visible latency or loss of quality.
RESULTS
Chenbro management is extremely pleased with the workplace technology deployed throughout their headquarters. “With Crestron, we are able to meet our green policies, provide a seamless user experience, and manage our systems more effectively,” Linda continued. “The ability to see usage reports is also a big plus, as it will help us plan for better management of our spaces. This experience has also given us the confidence to incorporate some of the Crestron solutions in our manufacturing plant office.”
